Cancellation policy for guest accommodation contracts

In the event of full or partial non-performance of the contract, the following rules shall apply:

Hotelier's liability for damages

If the hotelier does not provide the hotel rooms that have been ordered and confirmed, the guest shall be entitled to the following services, provided that the guest can prove that he has suffered a corresponding loss: Any price difference for appropriate alternative accommodation for a maximum of five nights, depending on the duration of the original booking; costs for transport to the alternative accommodation; the hotelier is not responsible for the guest’s subjective dissatisfaction with the accommodation, provided that he provides the agreed services.

The guest's liability for damages

If the hotelier incurs a loss due to the guest not using the room in accordance with the contract (cancellation, no-show, late arrival, early departure), the guest is liable for this loss under general contract rules (OR 97) and the rules of tenancy law for early return of the property (OR 264). The costs for which the guest is responsible are generally calculated as follows:

Cancellation costs

Winter (06.12.2024-20.12.2024 and 07.01.2025-30.03.2025)
Up to 14 days before arrival free of charge
13 to 7 days before arrival 70% of the booked arrangement
After that: 100% of the booked arrangement

Winter/festive season (21.12.2024–06.01.2025)
Up to 21 days before arrival: free of charge
20 to 14 days before arrival: 50% of the booked arrangement
13 to 7 days before arrival: 70% of the booked arrangement
After that: 100% of the booked arrangement

Summer (06.06.2025–12.10.2025)
Up to 5 days before arrival: free of charge
After that: 100% of the booked arrangement

Contract with the travel agency
If the travel agency withdraws from or cancels the contract, the deadlines and compensation fees of the agreement between the Swiss Hoteliers’ Association and the Swiss Travel Agency Association apply, unless otherwise agreed.

Group bookings of 10 rooms or more
A cancellation period (release) of 28 days is granted for bookings of more than 10 rooms.
Cancellations made within this period will be charged at 100%.
